Key Footwear Styles for Men S/S14

(Image sourced from http://www.globalblue.com)

Men’s spring summer trends are all about the accessories with footwear being a the
top of the list. For all you men that are interested in fashion, footwear does matter;
in fact research suggests that every inch of your outfit can create an everlasting
first impression.
"Women judge men's shoes twice as much as men judge women's. 64 percent
of women judge a man's fashion sense based on his shoes; 52 percent of
women say they judge a man's personality by his shoes; 36 percent say
they use shoes to determine a man's financial position; and 54 percent say
men's shoes reflect a guy's attention to detail (or lack thereof)"

With that in mind, here are our top picks to meet all your footwear needs
(and the women's!) this season:
1. The Tassel Loafer

This season like many previous seasons the loafer is big news but the key trend this spring summer is the ever-popular tasselled version in leather. This simple yet highly effective style suits a wide variety of occasions and fit well with a multitude of looks. Steptronic takes this loafer to the next level with their super soft leather uppers and gel and sheepskin padded inner soles for supreme comfort.

2. The Suede Derby

Perfect for those warmer, drier days this season is all about the suede Derby; with lighter soles for a spring feel and an array of colours to choose from to suit your mood. They work perfectly for casual or dress wear with a multitude of outfits; wear with dark jeans and a light shirt and perhaps a blazer for a dressier summer occasion and with chinos (shorts or full length) and a tee or looser shirt.

3. The Two Tone Brogue

The two tone brogue became big in the latter half of 2013 due to its subtle way of separating your footwear from the vast crowd of brogues out there. Perfect for dressy summer occasions compared to your classic brogue that can look too heavy with lighter coloured clothing. Although the two tone brogue can be dressed down it shines in all its splendor when paired with a smarter outfit.

Whats your favourite men's spring summer look?

The Colour Palette for Spring Summer 2014 - Men

Now lets not forget those fashion conscious men out there or the women they rely on to keep them on trend and stock their wardrobes!

Here is how the men can rock this seasons top colours:
"Light and airy Placid Blue is a perfect background color for spring, offering another alternative to the classic neutrals. Pair it with Comfrey, a more masculine take on the softer Hemlock green from the women's palette, to create a fresh, seasonally inspired look. For a modernized vintage feel, pair Purple Haze, a deeper, stronger version of Violet Tulip, with Paloma, a confident and adaptable grey.
Sand, a warm, agreeable neutral, can be coupled with more daring colors in the palette – making them less intimidating. Both Paloma and Sand are perfect complements to fiery Cayenne red, and help to harness the powerful energy that intense Freesia yellow brings to the spectrum. Accessories, including shoes, in bold colors, like Cayenne, Freesia and Celosia Orange, are becoming more popular for men this season, adding a touch of gusto to neutral formal attire.
As the temperatures rise, we are also seeing a lot of vibrant patterning that combines bold and tropical colors in many sectors of menswear. Create a magnetic look by mixing Magenta Purple, a more robust version of Radiant Orchid, with the higher voltage colors in the palette, like Celosia Orange and Dazzling Blue. (www.pantone.co.uk)"

The pastel colours in this seasons mix are perfect for men or women of all ages to feel comfortable in the colours they are buying and wearing. The placid blue, paloma and sand act as the perfect base colour to your spring/summer wardrobe, mix them with the more vibrant hues to make the colours pop or stick with classic jeans, whites and creams for laid back tonal ensembles.

What you can expect from Hoads this season;

- Suedes play a key part in this seasons collections adding a laid back feel while white soles keep the styles lightweight and modern;
- Blues, tans and greys add a summery feel to classic styled shoes with the option of contrasting laces to inject fun and colour into the look;
- Deck shoes and slip on moccasins in lighter shades are comfortable yet smart.

Whether you decide to be a fashion follower or stick to what you know we hope to meet all your footwear needs.

The Chelsea Boot. Classic in Style, Classic in Reputation.

The Chelsea boot probably evokes memories for some of the sixties and the Beatles however, although incredibly popular as they were then the Chelsea boot actually originates from the Victorians.

J.Sparkes-Hall was the first to design a boot of this kind using vulcanised rubber and twin elastic panels. In 1851 he filed for a patent claiming that Queen Victoria walks in boots such as these daily "and thus gives the strongest proof of the value she attaches to the invention”. These elastic sided ankle boots eventually came to be called Chelsea boots.(Cited from: The Chelsea Boots Guide — Gentleman's Gazette

Since then the Chelsea boot has seen some slight alterations (high heels, brogue detailing to the toe, mixtures in materials) however they remain as popular today as they did then.

Feast your eyes on our Chelsea boot collection and decide which to put on your Christmas list!
